I decided that the engine was too low and the exhaust headers were too near chassis rail, and the rear carb was too near the chassis. The standard engine mounts are QH EM670 which normally fit Cortina's and Capri's. There is also an EM672 which fit's Capri's and Granada's which is approx 15mm higher. I swapped the std mounts for the higher ones which gives a lot more clearance. |
The engine was then treated to a new set of plugs, leads, and coil. |
Tiger supply 2 metal 'bands' to secure the fuel tank, which in all honesty are a waste of time! Seeing as the tank is less than a foot behind my head I want it a little more secure! I made up 4 bars from a length of steel (from B&Q) and drilled an 12mm hole in each end. The bar was then covered with an offcut of bicycle inner tube. |
An M12 threaded rod was passed through the holes and one bar laid across the top of the tank, the bottom bar under the chassis rail that the tank sits on. |
The nuts were tightened, clamping the fuel tank in place. |
I get my side panels back this weekend from being painted. Since I sent them away I have fitted the engine. This means I will need to make the cut out for the exhaust headers once I fit the panels. I made a template from card. |
Which I will leave in place whilst I place the panel in place. I can then draw around the hole, remove the panel, and cut the exhaust hole out. (at least that's the theory!) |
